In war-torn times, a poor woodcutter lives with his wife in a large forest. One day, a woman finds and saves the girl, bringing irreversible changes to the lives of the couple and those who cross the child.

It is a story set in Poland during World War II, like a folktale
Most of the plot takes place in the forest, and as is typical of the aforementioned folk tales, revolves around a couple of woodcutters who adopt a Jewish girl who is thrown from a deportation train that passes through their forest. She was rejected by her father in order to save her from real death in Auschwitz.
The film’s visuals are well done
I will not go into the details of the story, so you can see them for yourself, I want to add that the film will come to a deep philosophical conclusion. On the technical side, everything is done perfectly.
The art style is decent, not too detailed or too crude, showing mostly low-light scenes with dominant gray tones, emphasizing the horror of the worst war and mass destruction in human history
Then there’s the excellent soundtrack: the musical score, the sound effects, the narration and the voice acting (I saw the original in French) are all very suitable for presenting this gem of a film. Overall, this is one of the best films dealing with the subject of racism and the Shoah in particular, both in terms of the artistic process and the story it wants to tell.
